What are the challenges for global citizenship and development education in an interdependent, diverse and unequal world? This talk addresses this question by looking at tensions, horizons and pedagogical implications of approaches to global citizenship education. It is based on the international educational initiative 'Open Spaces for Dialogue and Enquiry' and involves reflecting about:
- Introducing complex and controversial issues in the curriculum
- Building learners' skills to negotiate change and transform relationships
- Developing independent thinking and critical literacy
- Learning to live with and learn from conflict and difference
- Supporting responsible and ethical action
